The Etorkizuna Eraikiz (Building the Future) Forum is an initiative launched in collaboration between Gipuzkoa Provincial Council and the University of the Basque Country whose activity must form part of the general framework of Etorkizuna Eraikiz. The aim is to share the future challenges that Gipuzkoa faces with society and to reflect on these. To do this, a series of talks will be organised in which experts will give their opinion about each of these subjects. The talks will have the added value provided by screening a video at the beginning. In this video an open relaxed discussion will be organized and held among students from different generations about various subjects of interest to society. The students who have taken part in the video are from Deusto University, the University of the Basque Country and from Mondragon University.
"At the present time we find the greatest levels of inequality and largest gaps that there have ever been between the younger and older generations". The belief that there are always divisions and differences between generations is not new, but the idea that is increasingly gaining ground at the moment is that there has probably never been an intergenerational gap like the one that currently exists. This idea may be based on the profound rapid changes caused by the current technological transformation. However, is the gap so big? Are the differences so great? What were they like in other periods? And if there are so many differences, what kind of future can we expect?

“We are living in uncertain times. We are facing the future with greater uncertainty than ever before”. This is a prevailing idea that we have often heard about in the last few years, and we often hear that uncertainty is one of the main features of modern times. However, is it just a contemporary issue? What kind of insecurities have other generations experienced in our province? And what is it that makes us have such an uncertain view of the future? By taking these questions as a starting point we hope to work with this topic on fears, expectations, and attitudes, etc. about the future.
