María Lozano

Expert in the prevention of violent radicalisation

Caceres (1975). Graduated in Law. Master in International Law, Foreign Trade and International Relations. She is an expert advisor to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). She was founder and director of the European Network of Associations of Victims of Terrorism, as well as leader of the working group on victims of terrorism for the Radicalization Awareness Network (RAN) of the European Commission. She has been the lead editor of the Handbook Good practices to Support Victims of Terrorism during the Criminal Process and the Manual Foreign Terrorist Fighters: Manual for Judicial training institutions in South Asia and South East Asia, for UNODC. She is co-author of True Believers. Sectarian Thought, Radicalization and Violence (2018) and The Narratives of Terrorism (2020).

Vitoria-Gasteiz (1977). Es licenciado en Ciencias Políticas y de la Administración por la Universidad del País Vasco. Actualmente es responsable de proyectos y comunicación de la Fundación Fernando Buesa Blanco Fundazioa. Obtuvo el VII Premio de investigación victimológica “Antonio Beristain” con el trabajo “La contribución del movimiento asociativo y fundacional a la visibilidad de las víctimas del terrorismo”.
